Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 3800 – The elegant heirloom in a smaller format

Five years after the launch of the original reference 3700, Patek Philippe introduced a new model, the Ref. 3800, which was sold in parallel with its predecessor. With this model, they reduced the so-called jumbo size, as the diameter was reduced from 42 mm to 37.5 mm – a more contemporary size for the period. It can be assumed that Patek Philippe wanted to meet its target audience with this smaller variant, while continuing the avant-garde design of the Ref. 3700.

Subtle changes to the classic design

In terms of design, the Ref. 3800 is largely identical to the Ref. 3700. The case still consists of two parts, and the color and layout of the dial remained unchanged. The most striking difference – both visually and technically – is the addition of a seconds hand. Horologically, the seconds display is realized via the in-house caliber 335 SC.
