Tudor

Tudor combines function and finesse in timepieces built to be worn – whether underwater, in the wild, or in everyday life. With its bold, sporty aesthetic and uncompromising quality, the brand speaks to those who seek genuine Swiss craftsmanship with strength and character.

The history of Tudor

Tudor was founded in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf, the man behind Rolex, with a clear vision: to offer watches with the same reliability and precision as Rolex – but at a more accessible price point. With its Swiss roots and close historical ties to Rolex, Tudor has since established itself as an independent brand with a distinct identity, strong character, and unique design philosophy.

1926: The name The Tudor is registered by the company Veuve de Philippe Hüther on behalf of Hans Wilsdorf.

1946: Montres Tudor SA is officially established in Geneva, backed by Rolex and focused on durability and performance.

1954: Launch of Tudor’s first dive watch, the Tudor Oyster Prince Submariner.

1969: Introduction of the distinctive “Snowflake” hands – now an iconic design feature.

2009: Tudor is relaunched internationally with a stronger visual identity and new collections.

2015: The brand introduces its first in-house movement, the Calibre MT5621.

2018: Tudor resumes its collaboration with the French Navy (Marine Nationale), reaffirming its position in professional diving.

2023: Tudor opens its own high-tech manufacture in Le Locle, significantly expanding its in-house production.
