Different Rolex. Different expressions.
Over the years, Rolex has created a number of models, each with its own expression, history, and not least, function. Therefore, choosing a Rolex is not necessarily about finding the best model, but about finding the watch that suits you and the way you want to use it.
At Stæhr Preowned, we see Rolex watches from different generations, and the differences can be greater than you might initially expect. Size, materials, and reference all affect how a Rolex is perceived and how it appears. The same naturally applies to the choice between the different models.
Which Rolex model suits you?
Rolex Datejust is one of the brand's most classic and versatile watches. The model comes in many sizes, materials, and combinations of dial, bezel, and bracelet. This makes the Datejust an obvious choice if you are looking for a Rolex that works for both everyday wear and more formal occasions.

Rolex Submariner has its roots as a diving watch and is today one of the most recognizable and iconic Rolex models. It is a sportier choice with a rotating bezel and a more robust look. The Submariner can be interesting if you want a classic sports watch that is also simple in its design.

Rolex GMT-Master II was developed with the ability to read multiple time zones and stands out especially with its characteristic 24-hour bezel. The model is available in a number of different color combinations that indicate day/night and generally has more visual character than a classic Datejust.

Rolex Explorer is a more understated choice. The design is simple and functional, and the model does not have the same immediate recognizability as several of the other Rolex sports models. This can be part of the appeal if you are looking for a more discreet Rolex.

Rolex Daytona is the brand's well-known chronograph and was originally developed with motorsport in mind. The chronograph function and tachymeter scale give the Daytona a more technical look, and the model is also among the most sought-after Rolex watches.

Size, material, and age make a difference
Once you have found a model you like, the specific reference is at least as interesting. The same Rolex model can have been produced over the years in different sizes and with changes to, among other things, the case, bracelet, bezel, and movement.
The material also changes the watch's expression. Steel typically provides a more subdued and versatile look, while gold is more striking. Two-tone combines steel and gold and sits between the two.
Furthermore, there is the choice between an older and a newer Rolex. Older references may have smaller cases, different proportions, and details that are not found on the newer generations. Newer models, on the other hand, offer modern materials, updated movements, and a more contemporary construction.
